SETTING BACKGROUND
Gen:LOCK is set in the 2060s-70s, during a technologically advanced future where the world is caught in a war between two factions: the Polity and the Union. As of 2072, the war has been ongoing for four years, starting after the Battle of New York, with the totalitarian, fascist Union winning victory after victory. The Polity is all that stands in their way. After so long of simply trying to hold the line, losing ground almost every day, the gen:LOCK program is their last, best hope for victory. Gen:LOCK is a technology that allows compatible minds to be uploaded to a large, powerful mecha called a Holon, containing a cybernetic brain.

Miranda is not one of those compatible. Instead, she's a veteran Strider pilot, one of the walking tanks that form the backbone of the Polity's military. While this is a small role compared to the gen:LOCK team, she was one of those responsible for training them, and once dated Julian Chase, the first in the program.

PERSONALITY

Jaded: Miranda's lost a lot in this war. Like her boyfriend Julian Chase at the Battle of New York, for starters, and then the four years she spent after, defending a line that advanced and was never won back. She's tired, worn down; she's lost a lot of her passion and openness, but it's still there under the grumpier surface.

Professional: Tied to the above, Miranda - being a veteran pilot and near constantly in a military environment - knows how to keep up a professional front without being rude or cold. Even when she would rather have not, she gives Doctor Weller and Yaz - outsiders to the military - a tour and remained calm and courteous.

Stubborn: Despite everything she's gone through - even BECAUSE of everything she's gone through - Miranda does not back down from a fight. Eager to push the enemy back, she'll dig in her heels all the way. When it's announced that the Polity is finally pushing back, she's one of the first to perk up.

Gets the Job Done: Effected by and a combination of the above three, Miranda - while not reckless - will do a lot for the sake of a mission or her team. Multiple times has she risked her life to defend others, whether that be charging the enemy with a half-destroyed Strider, facing down dangerous nanotech, or flinging herself in front of an enemy Holon to stop it in its tracks. She's not afraid to chance death if she thinks it will help her own.

Kind-hearted: Despite everything Miranda's gone through, it hasn't made her cold or sharp. She's still kind, and still willing to be gentle and considerate with her friends; she talks to Chase and tries to make sure whether he really wants the life he's choosing for himself, and is firm in reminding her teammates how much refugees have to go through to get to the safety of the Polity. Miranda has never let her experiences make her harsh.

Witty/Playful: Miranda, before and after she lost Chase, has always been a bit of a playful personality. She's enough at ease with her Strider team to joke around with them, quick on the draw with a witty retort or a teasing jab of her own. She's also known to be more than on board with the more off the wall plans, to the point that Jodie - one of her teammates - knows her for her enjoyment of them.

Moving On: The old Miranda, the pre-war her, is gone. She's accepted that now. She's a new person, with new traumas and new outlooks- She just has to figure out who that is, now. As she says in the final episode of season 1: "I think both those people, that Chase, that Miranda, were casualties. It's just been playing out in slow motion ever since."

ABILITIES
Hand-to-Hand: Though primarily trained as a Strider pilot, Miranda is more than adept at hand to hand combat, capable of taking down multiple Union soldiers that were more heavily armed and armoured than she was.

Weapons Training: Similar to the above, as Miranda is in the military, she knows how to handle a weapon. While usually that weapon would be a gun or other, similarly futuristic things, she would be quick to pick up anything offered to her in this new setting.

Resourcefulness: Whether it's throwing herself out of her Strider to stop a rampaging enemy Holon in its tracks with her appearance alone, or throwing a bag of magnetized Union explosives out of a truck to destroy one of their own tanks, Miranda is a very resourceful individual. She can think quite quickly on her feet with it too, able to assess a situation and decide exactly how unorthodox she could - and should - respond to it.

Tactics: Miranda has a brilliant tactical mind, able to assess the gen:LOCK team during her teaching of them and pinpoint exactly their flaws. While she has never been in a true command position, she's no stranger to having to view the battle from a similar role, whether that would be planning with her squad leader or directing the Holons she's working with.

ADDITIONAL INFO
As stated above, at some point in the future I'd like to give her a magical weapon but later on, as detailed in the FAQ. I'd be happy to discuss this with a mod!

She also comes in with her body suit, which is unpowered but has removable metal plating over her chest, and is otherwise composed mostly of kevlar.
